Thermoactinomyces Tsiklinsky, a genus of thermophilic actinomycetes.
There has been considerable confusion concerning the nature and classification of thermophilic actinomycetes. Beginning with the early studies of Kedzoir (1896), Berestnev (1897), Tsiklinsky (1899), Gilbert (1904), and Miehe (1907), it was recognized that the actinomycetes capable of growing at higher temperatures (50 to 65 C) represent two distinct groups or types: (1) One group produces a tru...
متن کاملAmylolytic isoenzymes of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris.
Thermoactinomyces vulgaris strain 5 produced two electrophoretically different alpha-amylases. Precipitation with ammonium sulfate and acetone did not alter the electrophoretic mobilities of either amylase isoenzyme. Patterns of the hydrolysis products of amylose by the two amylase isoenzymes were essentially identical.
متن کاملThe effect of oxygen on the growth and metabolism of the aerobic thermophilic actinomycete Micromonospora vulgaris.
In the presence of pure oxygen at one atmosphere pressure Micromonospora vulgaris is unable to form in liquid media a surface pellicle of growth-bearing aerial mycelium. The production of bottom growth is either unaffected or stimulated by oxygen. Vegetative mycelium which develops from spores in Warburg vessels has an oxygen uptake that is similar in the presence of air or oxygen. Aerial mycel...
متن کاملAlkalithermophilic actinomycetes in a subtropical area of Jujuy, Argentina.
The objective of this study was to examine the alkalithermophilic actinomycete communities in the subtropical environment of Jujuy, Argentina, characterized by sugarcane crops. Laceyella putida, Laceyella sacchari, Thermoactinomyces intermedius, Thermoactinomyces vulgaris and Thermoflavimicrobium dichotomicum were isolated on the media with novobiocin, from sugar cane plants and renewal rhizosp...
متن کاملUse of a serologically distinct strain of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris in the diagnosis of farmer's lung disease.
During investigations into farmer's lung disease it was noticed that Micropolyspora faeni (MF) was isolated and identified with ease, but difficulty was encountered in the identification of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris (TV), although an organism resembling TV was frequently isolated. Extracts prepared from the isolates resembling TV (called Thermoactinomyces vulgaris variant, TVV) when tested aga...
